Two Peninsula Cities Ask Voters to Bump Business Taxes

| July 21, 2009 | 0 Comments

Palo Alto and Redwood City are both sending business tax proposals to the ballot this fall.

HERE is an article on Palo Alto’s plan, and one on RWC’s can be found HERE.  Redwood City is also including a tax on commercial property owners based on square footage.

The Palo Alto proposal, in various iterations, has been floating around town for quite a while, and has been more than a little controversial.  I’d guess that it will be rejected in Nov, but, given the haircut that cities will take if the current State budget proposal goes through, not to mention Palo Alto’s volatile city politics, I wont be placing any bets on the outcome.
