Excellent report on Green Building

Green building standards, particularly the USGBC’s LEED rating system, have certainly gone mainstream in the last few years.  I personally find the whole topic fascinating for a number of reasons.  First off, the importance of energy conservation and climate change mitigation are quite clear.  In addition, energy efficient construction and TI’s is only going to become a bigger and bigger issue in my industry, and it would be foolish for anyone to be blindsided by new developments.

Really, though, I just find many of the really clever approaches to the problem to be interesting on their own account.  Pity my poor wife who gets to hear me regurgitate the latest article I read on recycled concrete and solar collectors… 

A recent two-part story on NPR is one of the better pieces I’ve heard summarizing the developments and challenges facing the Green Building industry.  Worth a listen, or at least a read.  Summaries and podcasts linked below:
