Building Sale lands Mountain View new piece of public art

A few years back, I was pretty excited (thanks to the I Love Mountain View blog) to learn that I had for years been driving by a barely hidden little chunk of history— one of the few segments of the Berlin Wall anywhere on the West Coast, discretely displayed in the parking lot of the Bayside Business Plaza.  The Mountain View City Council has just voted to accept this monument as a donation from the descendants of the gentleman who developed the property and arranged for this very unique parking lot display.

Bayside Business Plaza had been quietly shopped around the market earlier this year.  When I read about the donation to the city, I assumed that the property must have changed hands, and a quick look at tax records confirmed that Google just closed on the property (along with some adjacent ones).  Congrats to the Golzen family for a successful exit from the property, and kudos for arranging to preserve an interesting piece of history
